Interrobang, WTF‽
Web designMy interest in web design inevitably lead at some point to basic typography, which I initially dismissed as something antiquated, especially regarding the quite limited possibilities of the internet. But as I learned a bit more about image replacement and other web typography techniques, I started to embrace the strange world of em dash, en dash and interrobang.

The Day The World Stood Still
Chomsky is my beer-buddyOne day everything stopped making a noise. People looked with panic at each at other at concerts. Conversation were left hanging in the air. Parents thought their kids had suddenly died. Offices full of people were for once silent, but it was not as pleasing as some had imagined.
First everyone thought they were the only ones. When they realized everyone was deaf, they sensed something big was happening. And then it came, loud as loud can be.
The most horrendous, nasty and disgusting fart imaginable.
And so God ended the biggest and longest practical joke evah. Also called reality.

Fast calculation of branching-numbers.
CodeA few month ago I’ve written a small C-programme, which searched for the root of a given characteristic polynomial with the goal to determine the base of the exponential fraction of some algorithm’s runtime (More information about this procedure in german can be found here - starting with slide 66). Because the evaluation of such polynomials is done countless times in modern computer-aided proofs improving the performance of the evaluation-strategy at hand may be a good idea.

Lift off!
GeneralI didn’t think I would write these lines so soon, but despite all my recent experiences with web design (could, never and finish are only some words I will always associate with them) the blog is finally up and running. And just to show off the cool plugins we use and to honor a long cultivated tradition of computer science:
package interwebs; class ScienceAndCode { public static int main( String[] args ) { System.out.println( "Hello world!" ); } }This will be so cool.
